Explore the charm of our selection of antique wall lights dating from the 1930s to the 1980s. Discover a variety of styles, ranging from Art Deco elegance, through the influence of iconic design houses like Guariche, Arlus or Lunel to with the iconic shapes of the 70s.
Diversity of Materials
Each of our antique wall lights is made of quality materials, such as bronze, brass or chrome-plated metal. Globes in opaline, mottled, sicle or molded glass as well as plastic. The materials represent the characteristics of a period, the traits of an identity that you will be able to recognize. They are specific to the technical progress of the second half of the 20th century.
Structures:
The gilded brass in the mass
Most of our old wall lights have a gilded brass structure. This alloy, close to bronze, mixing copper and zinc, is characterized by a golden hue "in" the metal unlike gold metal. Very fashionable in the 30s-50s.
Chrome metal
Chromed metal is frequently used in lighting fixtures, especially manufactured in the 70s/80s. It is characterized by a very clear white shine and has a mirror effect, but it can be pitted. This would actually be a good sign, attesting to the age of the wall light.
Plastic materials
Thanks to new technologies, this material became very popular in the 1960s. The flexibility of this material allows for innovative designs, offering elegant shapes and modern contours that captivate the eye whilst being robust and durable.
Globes:
Glass
In the 1950s, brass structures were combined with glass globes. These can have different shapes: Fontana Arte introduces tinted glass tulips, Venini covers its sconces with cylindrical Murano glass, and Ico Parisi uses lamella crystal. This variety of shape can be white or colored glass, opaque or translucent, blown or pressed.
Plastic materials
Translucent, transparent, opaque, fluorescent or colored, these new materials open up a new field of possibilities.
Renowned creative editors
Many of our old wall lights belong to major publishing houses or are in the style of these houses. The precursors in the field are: in Italy Gino Sarfatti with Arteluce; in France Pierre Disderot, Pierre Guriche, the Lunel and Arlus houses.
Unique Styles
Our old wall lights cover all styles between the 30s and the 80s. Starting with Art-Deco with its geometric shapes, clear lines and clean breaks. In the 1960s, more inventive forms using black metal and chrome metal appeared. In the mid-1960s, plastic material revolutionized the aesthetics of lighting. The 80s definitely saw the triumph of the halogen wall light and the aluminum slot.
